Grooming BarnTerms & Conditions
Health and medical conditions:
When your dog is with us, its health and welfare is our main concern at all stages of the grooming process. Should we believe your dog is experiencing any fear or stress at any time, we will where possible employ alternative strategies to alleviate this. This may require extra time or sessions to overcome this problem which will incur additional fees.
During grooming it is possible pre-existing conditions are noticed, which you will be informed of, and it is required to seek veterinary advice. Extremely rarely accidents can happen whilst grooming, or medical issues can arise. In the unlikely event of this happening you authorise us to seek emergency veterinary treatment when necessary and agree to take responsibility for any fees incurred.
All quoted prices assume:
- The dogs coat is well maintained, free from Knots, matts and tangles.
- The dog is well behaved, shows no aggression and is groomed at our recommended periods.
- The dog is not overweight or oversized for the breed.
- Whilst we are happy to work with nervous/ timid dogs, these may incur extra charges due to the extra time and handling skills required.
- Additional charges will be incurred for matted coats, poorly maintained coats, or dogs with fleas. All charges are payable before you leave the salon with your pet.
- If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your pet’s groom please let us know within 3 days (preferably, before you leave). Reasonable requests to alter the trim will be dealt with immediately or changes noted for the next groom. Please don’t leave negative feedback anywhere without contacting us first, we take great pride in our service and want our clients to feel the same.
Coat and Condition:
We practice humanity before vanity. Should a dog be presented with a matted or neglected coat, if our opinion is that it will be kinder to shave the coat back completely, this will be done in compliance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006. Dematting is not included in the price of the groom. There will be an extra charge for the service due to time and extra wear and tear on equipment.
When a dog’s coat is matted it may need to have a very short clip. This takes longer than a regular clip because the blades have to run below the matt very close to the skin.
You agree to not hold us responsible for any after-grooming effects of matt clipping procedures or problems uncovered on a badly matted, neglected coat.
These could include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Itchiness, skin redness or self-inflicted irritations/abrasions from excessive rubbing.
- It is possible that the dogs skin will be nicked with the clippers. This is because there is a much higher risk that the dog’s skin could be nicked with the clippers as we have to get the blade underneath the matt in order to remove it and although we will make every effort to avoid it, it does occasionally happen that the skin is nicked.
Once your dog has been shaved, we can work together to agree a plan going forward, to ensure the matting does not happen again. We highly recommend brushing your dog daily if they tend to become matted. This will help to avoid dematting procedures.
Ticks and Fleas:
The Grooming Barn is proud to be a tick/flea free environment. If your dog is known to have a parasitic infestation, we ask that your grooming appointment is rescheduled to a time when your pet is free from said infestation. 48 hours notice must be provided to avoid a cancelation charge. We recommend that you contact your veterinary surgeon to provide you with the best recommended treatment.
If fleas are found on your dog, we will use a flea shampoo and be required to do additional disinfection of our premises and equipment. This will incur an additional £15 charge.
If ticks are found an additional £5 charge will be added to include tick removal.
You agree to not hold us responsible for any infection caused by the fleas or tick, or removal of fleas or ticks.
Vaccinations:
By using our services, owners confirm that their dog is up to date with their annual vaccinations. An unvaccinated dog may put itself and others at risk.
The Grooming Barn takes no responsibility for any dog that may contract any diseases or kennel cough. The Grooming Barn may ask for proof of vaccination and veterinary information which must be provided.
